ABUNDANT MAMA
Four and a half years ago, Sal received the news of her husband Jurian’s (aka Chucky) passing in a tragic car accident. James their son was then only 21 months old and Sally was just a few weeks pregnant with their daughter Leah. Sal’s “old” life took on a whole new direction… Single parenting is never part of anyone’s dream for the future, and whether alone or not, is a 24/7 marathon, not an occasional side hobby you fit in when time permits. It’s the most incredible, most valuable marathon you’ll ever run.
Sally, James and Leah lost someone important and irreplaceable – Chucks was a good and unselfish man, a gem of a husband and dad. James and Leah also gained someone – a new and different kind of Mom who in my opinion has an incredible amount of strength and is absolutely amazing! I can see that Sal focuses on what’s really important. She chooses moments of cuddling, playtime and holds onto her kids for an extra second when they hug her – I call it pure parenting from the heart.
We can’t control the world or what happens in it, but can only enjoy our time here, just as I remember Jurian did. I know Sally will pass this hard-won lesson to James and Leah, and in some small or big way, they’ll get the best of both their Mom and Dad.
Taken on Llandudno Beach, this is Sal’s beautiful story in photos of how she landed on her feet.
